Presentation Fashion Show

So as Gemma is still studying for her exams, I need to find something quiet to do when I can’t find friends that are free to hang out. Lucky we’re still catching up on the blog posts so you all get to read about the night we got back from Cork and stayed in Clonmel at the O’dywers and got to attend the Presentation school* Fashion show. Girlie night, Dressing up and Cocktails… We were set for a good night!
The Presentation School in Clonmel put these on every second year as a fundraiser. They get the local fashion outlets to contribute to the event and the students to create and model the garments.
First things first – What to wear to a Fashion show when you have limited clothing in your single backpack… Luckily I was able to raid Kathleen’s wardrobe. Girlie time at the O’dwyers was always fun because they have a female dominant house; lots of “how is this” when referring to your how fit, “oh you could borrow my…” and “I love your...”.
We Glamorously arrived at the Clonmel Hotel and found Kathleen and Laura; they had arrived earlier and managed to obtain Prime Seating, In front row directly at the end of the Run way, beside the judging table. This was defiantly where we should be located – Front and Centre! We needed to make sure we were smiling and not fidgeting all night in case we were in the background of peoples photos. Following the program we had several sections of modelling and a few performances also. A few “ooo’s” and “ahhh’s” not to mention the “Oh wows” that came during our most favourite category. The Hats and Masks section of the evening. A few years earlier when Kathleen was at school she was involved in the fashion show, making several hat pieces; Gem and I also have a fascination with head pieces and hats. Special Mention to the Amazing girl who made some of hers out of vinyl records- they were incredible, she had several entries and we loved them all.
Also one of the students that entered her creation into the Ireland national Junk Kouture competition won first place. Check out her photo with the trophy. She had made this design from aluminium cans.

At the end of the show we returned to the Bar that we visited during intermission, to continue our drinks with the girls (Gem, Kathleen, Laura and Myself). Unfortunately, the hotel bar didn’t make ‘cocktails’ so we ordered the prettiest things we could… and asked for them to be served in the prettiest glasses they had. Fortunately for us they happened to have some martini glasses on the shelf. Pretty sure they were normally used for display purposes only as the dust had to be washed out of them. To top off a grand evening, with my encouragement, Laura scored herself a new martini glass.
