Claire's First day in Toronto

24 hours after leaving Sydney airport Gemma and I arrived at our Hostel in Toronto. To answer those who have already asked… yes, we did get on the right plane. 3 airports/ 3 countries in 1 day. Left
Sydney at 12 45pm, Wed 5/1/11 ish… Flight was 13 hours… it wasn’t too bad… we had a spare seat next to us which was great for space! And an extra pillows and blankets!
Arrived in LA at 7am , wed 5/1/11 (their time) waited around LAX for about 5 hours. I felt Miley Cyrus song Party in the USA was highly appropriate.
At 12pm, 5/1/11 (yet again) left for Toronto, arriving at 8pm CENTERAL MOUNTIAN TIME! lol. Only a 4 ½ hr flight… yet the coldest one! I swear they put their air con temp on minus to make them feel comfortable! Locals were in singlets… until we landed. Then the jackets came out! At about 8 at night… as we left the airport to get the shuttle bus we were instantly frozen!
I found sleeping difficult… 4 hours after going to bed I was still wide awake!  Maybe jet lag??? But by that time I took my next dose of cold and flu drugs and then I was out! :)
Today, Thursday the 6th (so weird that we’re no behind Aust time.), we wondered down town, heading for the harbour. Walked around the CN tower! Its sooo Tall!  Saw a SQUIERIL! So excited that I yelled “SQUIERIL. SQUIERIL“  to Gemma. A small family of locals looked at us weird. Came across a small brewery… which offered a free taste test of their beer! But their measure of a taste seemed to be a whole glass! And it wasn’t too bad.  Found an ice rink by the water! Beautiful! Even more so when it began to snow!!!! Completely new experience for me!!!  We spent a few hours there before we wondered more, heading for the art Gallery up town. We found snow which had been pushed up into mounds. Being the tourists we are, we jumped in it and built snow men!!!!
I think this Snow is a big novelty factor for us… as we later decided to make snow angels in a random park.  Wonder what it will be like tomorrow
